My favorite thing about living in a house is having a yard and more outdoor space. Living in our old condo, we had one small balcony and our backyard overlooked the Metro North train tracks. It wasn’t ideal. Ben and I both grew up in cul-de-sac neighborhoods, and we were so thrilled that our new house is at the end of one, too. The house has a front porch and multilevel deck off the back. We’ve been spending all our free time outside and loving every minute.

In no-particular order, here are my Top 5: Outdoor Items for Spring and Summer
- This outdoor rug is budget-friendly and comes in a variety of colors. We ordered an 8’10” for our front porch and loved it so much that we decided to order another one for the top of the deck.
2. Swinging on the front porch has quickly become a favorite pastime. When we moved into our house, there was a green vinyl wicker swing that wasn’t really our taste. The outdoor swing we ordered is teak and stained a bright brown color. We absolutely love our outdoor swing. Our actual swing is sold-out online, but this swing is very similar in
3. In a desperate attempt to develop my green-thumb, I ordered self-watering hanging planters. They come in a set of two, and I like the how simple they are.
4. I am definitely a fan of a concrete firepit. That being said, Ben was in charge of selecting our fire-pit, and he decided to go with this one as it is highly rated on Amazon. We ordered the glass-top and protective cover, too. I would say this fire-pit has more of an urban vibe to it, but it works well in our space. I was a bit perplexed in how to style the area around the fire-pit, but recently decided we are going to put white Adirondak chairs around it to match with the trim color of our house. (The chairs arrived quicker than expected, and I can confirm they are AWESOME! They are linked here.)
5. At our old place, I ruined several sets of outdoor cushions over the years. I always forgot to bring them in whenever it rained. This time, we went overboard. We ordered protective covers for our sofa and patio chairs. We also ordered this storage bin to keep the covers in on sunny days. It is highly rated on Amazon, and I can see why. It was easy to assemble, and it fits a ton of stuff. We even started keeping a few of our outdoor trays and ice bucket in this storage bin.

I hope the sun continues to shine and the weather continues to get warmer here in Connecticut. We definitely have a many sunny days outside ahead of us.
