Teachers have some pretty wild fashion stereotypes. (Think- tacky plastic earrings to commemorate every minor holiday, solid color velour mumus, and cardigans that would be too conservative- even for Grandma). While some of them may ring true, I’m here to talk about the chicest (and comfiest) teacher shoes.
My Ballerina Pink Tieks are the comfiest shoes in my closet. It feels like I’m wearing slippers whenever I have them on, and that is crucial as I bop around my first-grade classroom each day. I need to be able to navigate the rug during Morning Meeting without fear that my heels will accidentally crush some adorable little hand. Wearing heels in a first-grade classroom can seriously be dangerous. (Maybe slightly exaggerated, but still…)

I also love how Tieks can be worn with something casual, like leggings and a sweater, or dressed up with a dress and blazer combination for those days I need to look a bit more polished.
Let’s talk about the pink elephant in the room (pun completely intended)- the price tag. In my opinion, Tieks are an investment piece. To me, a shoe that can be dressed up or down is worth an investment. They can take you from the classroom to Happy Hour. The shoes in the Classics Collection are $175 and come in a huge variety of colors. Tieks are the kind of shoe that will last for years. They’re extremely durable while also remaining flexible. Furthermore, that signature blue bottom is there for a reason. The outsole provides traction and shock absorption, which is what makes them so comfortable to walk in for extended periods of time. If you’re contemplating getting a pair of Tieks, just do it. Your feet will thank you.

These are just so cute – as are you!
Thanks, sweet friend! They’re the best casual flats!!!
Love them but there’s noting casual about the price.
An investment show for sure!!!
Great review. I became a Tieks fan after buying my first pair in May 2018. I’m up to 16 pairs now. I don’t have ballerina pink but I do have the new Tieks Cotton Candy. They’re very similar to Ballerina Pink. Thanks for sharing your post.

Is there arch support?
Thanks so much for reading! 16 pairs of Tieks? That is seriously impressive 🙂
Thanks for reading, Bev! They absolutely have more arch support than any other flats I own. That being said, if you are looking for shoes with significant arch support, I’m not sure any flats would give you that. <3
16 pairs is certainly more than I thought I’d ever own. I figured I’d buy one pair and that would be it. I liked my first pair so much I bought 2 more pairs 4 days later. Besides the comfort and cuteness of Tieks, I love all the colors that are available. I still don’t own a black pair. I love every color I own. These are my sapphires, they were my first pair. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/b2efd0a32cda08d07f8604730fc647a8bda65bd56f269524fb7a14486d5381a4.jpg
I don’t know about the taxpayers that contribute to teacher pay will feel seeing these expensive shoes when they drop their kids off to school wearing their TTMaxx bargain or Walnart shoes, not being able to afford Tieks themselves.
I’m not really sure what type of response you’re looking for with this comment. Im assuming you’re looking for me to defensively defend myself& teachers everywhere about how hard we work blah blah blah etc. If you follow this blog, you’d know what type of a person& teacher I am. Regardless, how teachers choose to spend their salary is a bit irrelevant to the “taxpayers”. And thank you for reading and commenting as it helps my metrics and future partnerships.
You just gave the perfect answer. Your money is your money. The tax payer pay you to teach their kids important stuff and life lessons parents don’t, won’t or don’t about. There’s no answer you need to give to ridiculous comments like that.
Well worth every penny!!! I bought 4 pair in an array of colors and each one are a delicious dream as well as so comfortable. I have so much fun wearing them and they pair with everything.
How fun to experience the packaging the company extends a super personal touch to convey thoughtfulness and appreciation. In the packaging which is bar none.
I see how they made Oprah’s favorite things list!!!
This amuses me. I bought a pair of Tieks only 3 months ago. After wearing them 4 times, I found the sole torn at the stitching area. Sophie in customer service indicated I may just be hard on my shoes and instead of replacing them, I have to return them for repair… $200 for a pair of shoes worn four times… not a good value in my opinion.
Hi Paula! Thanks for reading the post. I’m sorry to hear you had that experience. I’m surprised that was the customer service response. I’ve had my first pair for 2 years and wear them weekly with no issue.
Question to anyone who purchased these shoes… how was the fit across the big toe? Real leather will conform, which is a plus. But my biggest issue with other makers ballerinas has always been the big toe.
I have the same question. I wear a 71/2 and I had to order up not down. You can see my entire big toe. Does anyone else have this problem?
