This past weekend we took a trip to Blue Jay Orchards. It was just as I remembered it as a child- a fall wonderland. They give you that empty bag, and the sky is the limit. At one point, Ben had to urge me to put a few apples back. Once you come down from the euphoric ‘apple high’, you realize you need to do something with the 47 apples you picked. I’m sharing a few of my apple-ideas below…
1) Make applesauce
Slice up 8 apples, grab your slowcooker, dump some cinnamon over the top, add 1/4 cup of water, and set it for 3 hours. (Seriously. It’s that easy.) After making applesauce, I jar it so it lasts for several months.
2) Dip them in dessert hummus
I like to have sliced apples and brownie-batter hummus as dessert quite often. I tell myself that it’s healthy, because it’s fruit and hummus. (Not quite accurate, but the lie works well for me.)
3) Give them to a teacher
100% biased suggestion. IΒ amΒ a teacher, but I do love when a little one gifts me an apple.
4) Make guilt-free apple crisp
Here is our favorite Paleo apple crisp.
5) Add them to your salads
I’m a big fan of mason jar salads. This fall, I’ve been adding chopped apples. They give my lunch a touch of sweetness and crunch.

Apples are such great salad toppers because they add a nice crunch!
RIGHT?!?! I have enough apples to last me until Christmas…
OOOOH I need to try some of these ideas, I love apples! Although I have to say I am also partial to the cider donuts.
Such great ideas! We NEVER know what to do with the huge bag of apples we pick each year. I tried candy apples but that was a big sticky mess!
Yes!! Apples for days!! Love that vest!!!
Apple sauce!! I have never thought to make it! What a good idea!! Picturing pork chops with home made apple sauce this week for din!
I need to try that brownie batter hummus. I hear it’s fabulous! And with apples? Even better!
I always end up with 20lbs of apples when Iβm near an orchard. Itβs bittersweet. No pun intended lol
Oh my gosh! Amazing pun (un)intended ππππΌ
