Favorite Paris Memories

I still can’t believe it took me 32 years to visit Paris. I’ve been to Southern France and Provence (yes way, rosé), but I never spent time enjoying Paris. To be able to explore the city with Ben was absolutely incredible, and we made memories that will last a lifetime. I just finished going through almost 700 pictures, and I will be sharing more in depth over the course of the next few weeks. To start, here are our Top 5 Paris Memories.

  • Eating dinner at Le Petite Chaisse

We went on a recommendation from Ben’s colleague who promised this would be our best meal in Paris. She absolutely nailed it. I salivate just thinking about the beef tartar!

  • Snapping an Eiffel Tower selfie after stuffing our faces with street-stand crepes

Waiting in line for three hours just to reach the top of the Eiffel Tower didn’t seem appealing to us. Paris has an abundance of things to do, so we didn’t want to waste time waiting in line. We decided to visit the crepe stand near the rear entrance to enjoy a snack. Afterwards, we walked around the tower, and Ben managed to snap the amazing selfie below. (We also ended up getting yelled at for being on the grass, but it was totally worth it!)

  • Merci!

Ben and I often share moments of uncontrollable laughter. I hope this is something that always remains in our relationship. I’m no master when it comes to the French language, but I can say a bunch of phrases to get-by. Ben literally knew zero words in French. His goal was to master, “Bonjour!” and “Merci!” (For reference, he still pronounces it as ‘mercy’ or ‘mare-say’.) Anyways, one night we sat down for dinner at a café in St. Germain. The waiter came to greet us, and Ben proudly declared, “MERCI!” At which point, the waiter looked at him with a confused and slightly disgusted look. Why would you greet me with THANK YOU? As soon as the words exited his mouth, Ben immediately knew it was wrong. The look on his face was hilarious and priceless. He shook his head and muttered, “Oh no. That wasn’t right.” We both erupt into hysterical laughter just thinking about it. (I guess you had to be there?!)

This was another recommendation, and we loved it so much that we went twice during our stay. After a long day exploring the Louvre and Museè d’Orsay, this was the perfect place to grab dinner. Enjoying a salmon tartine with a glass of rosé while the traffic rolled by will be a memory I’ll always cherish.

  • Chocolate-making class

We went to the Chocolate Museum on our last day figuring it would be something different. We ended up doing a class with a master chocolatier and had so much fun.
