I will preface this by sharing something about myself- While I love trying new things, I am always very hesitant to try new hair products. I feel like my hair can be so finicky. I have a ton of naturally straightish, medium hair. What is there to complain about, you ask? That being said, I consistently have a ton of flyaway hairs. I’m sure that wearing my hair in a tight bun or ponytail most days is the culprit. I digress…
When I was asked to try some products by Wow Skin Science, I was nervous. If you search the company on Google, dozens of testimonial videos pop up. (Cue my eye roll) I enjoy writing honest reviews, and I was honestly fearful that I would loathe these products. How could that many people love these products that I had never heard of. (Read on to see how wrong my skepticism was) The package arrived, and I did what I always do- open the products and gave them a smell. Here are my thoughts on the three products I tried…
Avocado and Coconut Oil Conditioner
I used this conditioner for several washes, and WOW is all I have to say. It is made of wheat protein, coconut oil, avocado oil and vitamins B5 & E. After the first wash, my hair smelled fresh and really good. Upon drying my hair, it was like most of my usually crazy fly-aways had disappeared. The ‘no flyaway look’ maintained through a train ride and the 90+ New York City heat. (See picture below! I have no products in my hair nor did I use my straightening iron!)
Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo
Full disclosure, I gag at the smell of apple cider vinegar. I think it’s after years of having it in the morning to combat acid reflux. The shampoo does have a muted vinegar smell, and I was able to get a good lather out of it. There is also pear extract in the shampoo, which definitely gave it a fruity hint. Like other Wow Skin Science products, this is also sulphate and paraben-free.
Hair Revitalizer
This is the product I never knew I needed. I typically don’t put anything in my hair aside from shampoo, conditioner, and dry shampoo. After I used the two products above, and fell in love with the conditioner, I decided it was time to give the revitalizer a try. This is a spray that I put on my wet hair before drying. It has safflower, amla, horse chestnut, rosemary, tea tree & lemon, and vitamins A, B5, B7, E & F. It smells wonderful! It is supposed to combat things like fly-aways, breakage, and split ends.
In a nutshell…
After trying the shampoo and conditioner, I texted my friend Lindsay telling her all about it. Lindsay is my friend who is always recommending random products that she finds online. I was excited to share something new with her- for once. Her reply to me was a picture of the same products on her bathroom counter. Apparently she already heard the good news about Wow Skin Science.
If you ask me, get the Avocado and Coconut Oil Conditioner! Your tired, damaged summer hair will thank you.
